We Paint … the Springs Paint Out
Sunday, Sept. 23, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Come catch the lovely colors of fall as you paint en plein air at the beautiful southern Indiana springs of French Lick and West Baden. This paint out, presented by the Bloomington Watercolor Society in conjunction with the weekend watercolor conference, We Paint … the Springs, is open to all artists working in water-media.
Beginners, be encouraged! You are offered a “guided paint out,” led by a professional artist experienced in plein air painting, to help you along your way. Entry in the competition is encouraged, but not required. Judging will be divided into two categories: beginner/intermediate and advanced/professional.
If you will be attending only the Sunday Paint Out and not the Saturday sessions, you still need to register. Registration will permit you to compete for awards and to reserve a box lunch.
To register, print the conference registration form, fill it out completely and mail it to Ivy Tech, 122 S. Walnut St., Bloomington, IN 47404. A $40 registration fee must accompany the registration form. You may also register by calling 812-330-6041 and providing credit card information. Sept. 15 is the last day to register.
Guidelines
- All artists who submit artwork for judging must be pre-registered.
- Registration fees are non-refundable. The Paint Out will be held, rain or shine.
- Artists must check in and have their pads, papers, watercolor canvases, painting surfaces stamped before beginning work. Unstamped work will not be judged.
- Artworks submitted for judging must be 90 percent water-media. This includes gouache, acrylics used in watercolor style, watercolor crayons and sticks, watercolor pencils and watercolor pens. Artists provide their own easels for displaying their work for the judges. Work should NOT be signed, matted or framed.
- All artwork must be original and created between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012.
- Registrants must select one piece of artwork for judging.
- Artists must display artwork in judging area by 2 p.m.
