Meetings

BWS meets the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m., in the First Christian Church in downtown Bloomington on Kirkwood and Washington. After a short business meeting, members enjoy a demo and time to paint.

(There are no Monday meetings in July, or August; however, other activities are scheduled.)

We Paint... The Springs Watercolor Conference

September 21-23, 2012

 

We Paint…the Springs, a weekend watercolor conference at the beautiful French Lick Resort, offers classes and workshops that will inspire and instruct beginning to advanced artists. Presented by the Bloomington Watercolor Society in cooperation with Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington, “We Paint…the Springs” is open to all painters interested in watermedia.

Activities

• PAINTOUTS in the Southern Indiana outdoors. Held on Selected weekend days April through October. (See schedule below.)
  
• ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP SHOWS of our paintings set in a professional gallery.
• WORKSHOPS led by professional watercolor painters.
• FIELD TRIPS to various locations of interest, e.g,. TwinRocker Paper Mill and Indianapolis Museum of Art.

2012 Paintout Schedule

All BWS sponsored 2012 Paint Outs take place on Saturdays, 10:00 - 2:00.  BWS friends, family, and art lovers in general are always welcome!

• April 21 - Hilltop Gardens, 2367 E Tenth Street, Bloomington.  Host, Charlotte Griffin.  .  Artists are invited to paint the flowers and birds found at Hilltop and then to display their works in the main building at the new bird habitat opening on May 19.
• May 19 - T. C. Steele Festival of Flowers.  Come enjoy - and paint! - the lovely spring flower gardens planted by Selma Steele.  Pre-registration is required.  For full details, go to the T.C. • June 16 - Meadowood Retirement Community, Tamarack Trail, Bloomington.  Hosts, Connie Brorson and Beth Gray.  Please reserve your spot by emailing members@bloomingtonwatercolor.org
• July 7 - Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center, 3655 S. Snoddy Road.  Hosts, Sara Steffey-McQueen and Jacki Frey.  This is an exciting new venue for BWS to paint!  http://www.tibetancc.com/info/index.asp
• August - No Paintout this month.
• September 8 - T. C. Steele Great American Paint Out. T.C. Steele State Historic Site.  Pre-registration required.  Please link to http://www.indianamuseum.org/sites/tcstspec.html for information.  (Note: BWS supports this event, but is not a sponsor.)
• September 23 - "We Paint...the Springs" Watercolor Conference Paint Out, French Lick Resort.  Historic buildings, the new lakes, golf courses, and lovely fall decorations around the grounds provide an amazing array of scenes to paint en plein air.  Advance registration required.  Please see our conference page for details.  For a peek at potential painting subjects, go to http://www.frenchlick.com/pressroom/photos
• October 13 - Oliver Winery, SR 37 North of Bloomington. Brushes and bottles are the operative words for this paint out!  Enjoy Oliver wine and a carry-in picnic while we paint the incredible fall colors of southern Indiana.  Hosts, Kriste Lindberg and Betty Wagoner.
